Many
students like to write. Some enter "writing" contests in
order to share their work with others. This is a short list of some
of the writing contests that Middle School students can enter.
|
Before chosing to enter a writing contest we suggest that you do
six things:
|
1.
Check with your parents, or guardian, to make sure that they know
what you are planning to do and that they understand the rules.
2. Make sure that you understand the rules and the costs. Many contests
charge a small fee - while that is common - DO NOT enter a contest
that wants a significant sum of money.
3 . Read the information found in our Ethics
of information use document to understand some issues
linked to plagiarism and copyright.
4. Find a willing editor. This should someone who discussed both
the style of your piece of work and who can help with the mechanics
of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
5. Check the deadlines for both entry and contest results.
6.
